Petite Chats | Live By the Three Fs

Black woman eating a brownie in at coffee shop

Hi all

Here we are with another Petite Chats . These questions are coming from my Tumblr inbox that I’ve been neglecting.

You Ask, I Answer

Do you care about being liked or people disliking you because of your stances? – Anonymous

Hi lil anon,

So my short answer is

A more eloquent response is: my mother instilled a great deal of self-worth, self-love, and self-confidence in me at an early age. While I know certain aspects I share are important in making connections, advancing in the corporate world, etc I’m not obsessed with people liking me. I’m not going to change because someone doesn’t like me or my beliefs or thoughts on a topic. I have to live with myself until I take my last breath, so as long as I like myself and love myself, I’ll be just fine.

When I doubt, I like to remind myself of the  3 Fs of life: If you aren’t feeding me, fucking me, or financing me your opinion is not of consequence and keep it moving.

What do you like about the south? s there anything to like about the south as a poc? I’m trying to come up with something but am drawing a blank. – Anonymous

Hey  little anon,

There are very few things I like about the south. I’m from the south but not quite southern so I have no real calling to it. With that said we do have:

  • Lower cost of living
  • Nicer weather
  • More farmer’s markets
  • Wineries
  • Disney World
  • Beaches

There are no obvious perks to being a PoC in the south, but then again that could be said about America overall given the current social and political climate.

Hope this was helpful!

Is there a profession you picture your future spouse doing? – Anonymous (this came from a list I reblogged on Tumblr)

So I used to joke and say I should marry a chef or baker; someone who can feed me delicious things. I still think that could be in the cards for me.  In actuality, I see myself marrying someone in banking, IT, or consulting. I guess time will tell.

That’s all I have for this week. Remember to submit your questions to ask feature on Tumblr .

Until Next Time,

Cute read. It’s a shame people don’t leave a name with their comments/questions, but I enjoyed reading the replies you wrote.

  • When I was a kid I used to care what people thought about me (emphasis on the kid part). Now, I could care less. Life is way to short to worry about opinions coming from people who weren’t meant to be apart of your journey in the first place.

  • Love your three “F’s”! It’s so hard these days not to care what others think, but those are great rules to keep in mind – thanks!

  • What a cute Q&A! Omgsh, I wish my fiancé new how to cook! It would be amazing to be married to a cook! I would never be hungry!

Thanks a bunch. The Q&A is becoming one of my favourite parts of blogging. One of my friends is marrired to a chef and I’m so jealous of their dates/meals.
