On the 9th day of blogmas, Aitza gave to me…casual holiday looks to slay at the party!
Nine days in and I’m still going strong with the rhyming! That said, Merry Christmas Eve! I’m so excited for tomorrow. This wasn’t the initially scheduled post, but sometimes Instagram gives you inspiration, and you have to jump on it.
I was scrolling down Instagram, finally seeing pictures from December 12th, and Sophie of Sophie with a Blog latest post at the time caught my eye.
I would like to roll up to all parties like this. And obviously with a snack by my side. The snack life chose me. Should I try to make #sophiewithasnack a thing? 🤓 There’s a new #foodforthought post #ontheblog : What are you wearing to holiday parties? 🧐🤓😉 . #snacklife #traderjoes #friyay #readyfortheweekend #goodvibesonly #sweaterweather #cozy #fridaynight #lookofthenight #ootn #hygge #personalstyle #personalblog #nycblogger
While my usual outfit of choice for these functions includes black dress, black tights, black booties, grey hat, and grey coat, sometimes that isn’t always the case. So I was forced to consider my alternative options when I want something or a bit more casual or my fingernail put a hole in my tights, or my dress of choice is dirty. Just as luck would have it; I found myself attending a holiday party where the dress code was casual but I was still planning to slay.
Casual Holiday Outfit
I love my boatneck tops and sweaters. Black is always my choice as it’s slick, will likely hide any food spill mishaps, and pairs well with other colours. My high-waisted jeans from LOFT are probably my most worn pair of denim at the moment. They help to elongate my legs and give me an overall snatched look, that isn’t too uncomfortable after a pig out on party food. As someone who has been shying away from statement necklaces and earrings, hats are an excellent alternative. A stylish wide brim helps balance out my oversized forehead with straight hair and pull together a rather basic look. I’ve also noticed I receive more comments on my studs and industrial bar when wearing a fedora when the light hits at the right time.

Of course, no winter look is complete without a perfect coat or jacket. I’ve lucked out and been able to wear my vegan leather jacket from boohoo. The zip detailing and quilted sleeves Don’t forget, tis the season for over-the-knee boots. You may not have Stuart Weitzman money, but you can still look fly with your OTK boots, comfy sweater, and skinnies. This is probably the most quintessential way to wear the boots while looking trendy.
Casual Holiday Make-Up
I am no one’s makeup guru. On a good day, I apply eyeliner, mascara, and lipstick. Anything above that is me getting glammed up. My little finishing touches after applying my foundation are bronzer to warm up my cheeks, and dark lip give a mysterious look. Given that the majority of the look is monochrome, the pop of colour draws attention to you.

Sometimes you don’t have to twinkle like the tree lights in a shimmery dress to get compliments.
